Guilty Party
Visual identity for season 2 of YouTube anthology series Guilty Party
Concept / Art Direction / Design / Retouching
Guilty Party: History of Lying, set at fictional Colvin College, follows a group of students as they attempt to find out who among them committed a dangerous crime. It earned a Shorty Award for Branded Series in 2019.
Concept + Art Direction
Each character’s portrait evokes both a school portrait and a mugshot. Intense butterfly lighting suggests the harsh light of an interrogation room. These photos were utilized for key art as well as social content.
Graphics for Production
A number of graphics were developed in collaboration with the production design team, including digital projections, campus flyers, and story-specific props.
Feather Motif
This minimal feather emblem was inspired by the Egyptian feather of Ma’at, a white ostrich feather representing truth. The mark is used throughout the show and the white feather symbol is further reinforced through the show’s production design.
Podcast Graphic
The world of the Guilty Party extended beyond the walls of Colvin College in the form of a real-life true crime podcast called Suspect. The podcast also serves as a major storytelling device in the show.
Social Media
I directed the cast in solo and group photos for use on social platforms like Twitter, Instagram, and Snapchat.
